Build rapport to nurture culture

Connect the community and build rapport with broader society by promotion of shared culture and language.

Culture grows when it is shared

This focus area celebrates identity, connection and belonging. Through festivals, arts, language and intergenerational programs, we preserve and share Iranian culture while inviting the broader community to connect with it. Each activity deepens pride, bridges generations and fosters mutual understanding.

What we seek to nurture

01

Persian language and storytelling

Encouraging people of all ages to speak, read and share stories so words, memories and literature continue to travel between generations.

02

Celebrations and creative expression

Making room for festivals, music, visual arts, food and community traditions to be enjoyed and reimagined together.

03

Intergenerational learning

Creating opportunities for older and younger people to exchange knowledge, ask questions and shape a culture that belongs to both.

Building bridges through culture

Cultural participation can strengthen belonging within the Iranian community and deepen understanding across Victoria. AISOV seeks to connect people through:

  • inclusive celebrations and community gatherings
  • educational and creative activities
  • community stories and publications such as Golbang
  • collaboration with multicultural organisations and local communities
  • a welcome for people of different backgrounds, beliefs, abilities and levels of Persian-language confidence

When culture is shared openly, it becomes a meeting point. People can be proud of their heritage while contributing fully to the broader Victorian community.

Help keep culture connected

Join an upcoming event, share a skill or story, introduce a younger family member to a cultural tradition, or discover community voices in Golbang. Participation—large or small—keeps culture alive.
